Grey Bruce Hike for Hospice

Sunday, May 5, 2019 1:00pm - 5:00pm
Location: Durham Town Hall

Various locations across Grey & Bruce On Sunday, May 5th, communities across Grey & Bruce will join thousands of people across Canada, as they come together in order to raise funds and awareness for hospice palliative care programs and services. Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce the owners and operators of Chapman house are more excited than ever to make use of our areas stunning hiking trails in hosting the Grey Bruce Hike for Hospice. Families, individuals, teams, co-workers, and virtual hikers can register to hike or get more information at www.greybrucehospice.com. The 2019 Grey Bruce Hike for Hospice will be held at 1:00pm on May 5th, 2019 at the following locations: Owen Sound - Harrison Park Pavilion Meaford - Harbour Pavilion Town Of The Blue Mountains – Blue Mountain Town Offices Markdale - Grey Gables Durham - Durham Town Hall Hanover - Pavillion Park Mildmay – Lions Mildmay Carrick Pavillion Brockton - Agricultural Society Building #2 / Walkerton Saugeen Shores – River Street Station This year Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce are also pleased to announce that Bayshore Broadcasting has agreed to once again be a partner for the 2018 Grey Bruce Hike for Hospice. While Hike for Hospice is an integral annual fundraiser it’s also about community outreach and palliative care education. Bayshore Broadcasting was a natural fit for partnership due to their long-standing reputation within area communities for informing the public and rallying community support. While the Hike is coordinated nationally, due to the generous financial national support of GSK, Amgen, and Bayshore HealthCare, 100% of the funds raised in our community remain here. The funds raised this year by Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce will be used to continue to provide compassionate care to residents of Grey/Bruce and their families. More than 50% of the funds needed to provide the hospice palliative care services provided by Chapman House come from charitable donations which make this annual fundraiser a key component to ensuring the future of our community hospices. The money raised through the Hike provides physical, emotional and social assistance to Grey Bruce residents, their families and loved ones. Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce is working towards ensuring that more Canadians, receive the end-of-life care they wish for. The Grey Bruce Hike for Hospice planning committee have set a goal of topping the over $170,000 that was raised in 2018 and would like to let area businesses and professionals know they have sponsorship opportunities still available. They’d also like to remind interested participants to ask their employers to consider donation matching. To support or participate in the Grey Bruce Hike for Hospice Palliative Care, or for more information, please contact Rachel Taylor at rtaylor@greybrucehospice.com , 519-370-7239 ext. 109. You may also visit our website at www.greybrucehospice.com. About Chapman House & Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce Chapman House owned and operated by Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce is a free-standing residential hospice that serves Grey & Bruce counties. Our community hospice is a centre of excellence with a multidisciplinary team, providing compassionate, dignified, patient-centered care to individuals with a progressive life-limiting illness, empowering them to live well while dying. Chapman House has 8 suites in a newly constructed, purpose-built facility in Owen Sound. The palliative care team and volunteers provide a range of medical and support services around the clock. Our hospice home has fewer restrictions than an institutional setting. Family members are encouraged to visit with their loved ones at any time and to participate in their end-of-life care. The resident rooms include comfortable living spaces for family members to stay day or night. There are no set visiting hours so that family members can come and go as they please. Hospice care at Chapman House is available free of charge to patients and their families. Support from the community is heavily relied upon to continue providing this much needed care. About New South Bruce Hospice Satellite Project Following 4 years of meetings and planning to expand hospice services beyond Chapman House in Owen Sound, representatives of the Southern Bruce Grey Hospice Satellite Committee and the Residential Hospice of Grey-Bruce Inc. were very encouraged by the provincial government’s announcement in January of 2019 to fund 6 additional hospice beds in our region. Having received the government funding approval, the project is currently focusing on creating a fundraising program and finding a suitable location for the new satellite hospice. 2nd Annual Golf Tournament in Support of the Markdale Hospital

Friday, July 19, 2019 11:00am - 8:00pm
Location: Highland Glen Golf Club

Sea & Ski Realty Ltd., Brokerage is Proud and excited to announce the second annual Hospital fund raising Golf Tournament on FRIDAY, JULY 19th at Highland Glen Golf Club in Priceville. With the full support and in conjunction with the “CENTRE GREY Health Services Foundation” plans are well under way for a successful community fund raising event for the ongoing operations of the Centre Grey Hospital in Markdale. Our first year hosting the event in 2018 was such a success bringing in over $23,000 for the foundation that we decided to make it an annual event! We have room for only 30 teams of 4 or 120 individuals, and spots are sure to fill up quickly. If you are interested in participating in this fun filled day and supporting the hospital please follow the link below to the registration form. You can register online or print out the form and email/fax it to: golf@seaandskirealty.ca, or return it to us at our office in Kimberly. The entrance fee is $150 (taxes in) per player, which includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, lunch, and full steak dinner! There will be activities happening at each hole, prizes for the top teams; Ladies, Mens, and Mixed. Raffle draws, and a silent auction. Lots of chances to go home with some great stuff! Our sizable donation after last year’s tournament would not have been possible without our sponsors. Their generous donations and investment of time were integral to reaching our goal! Unfortunately, the under funding of hospitals from the government is a continuous problem leaving The Centre Grey Health Services Foundation relying on about $500,000 of donations from the community a year to maintain equipment, technology, and ensure the hospital has what it needs to run. We want to do everything we can to help, but we cannot do this without your help! We are also looking for sponsors and prize donors. Including event sponsorship, hole sponsors, and item donations for door prizes, raffle, and silent auction items. Please take a moment to read it over and see if your organization can contribute to this life saving cause. Every bit, big or small helps! Help us reach our 2019 goal of $30,000!
