West Grey promotes curbside pickup as the number one solution for collecting recyclable waste.
Recycling should be put out on the curb inside a blue bin by 7 a.m. on scheduled days. Blue bins can be purchased at hardware stores, box stores or at the municipal administration building. The pickup team thanks you for only using blue bins. Please ensure that all recycling material is placed loosely in blue boxes. Please do not use plastic bags.
Cardboard should be flattened and tied in bundles.

Battery recycling |
Battery recycling is free of charge and open to West Grey residents only. Please bring your batteries to any of the locations listed below. Locations:

Film plastics recycling |
You can drop off your film plastics at two landfills in West Grey. Accepted film plastic recyclables will be transported to a company in Ontario that turns film plastics into plastic resin pellets to be used in manufacturing. Items not accepted in the lighting program noted above are accepted through alternative disposal methods at the Bentinck and Durham Landfills free of charge (no ballasts containing PCBs will be accepted). Industrial, Commercial and Institutional operations (IC&I) may qualify for a free pickup through the Product Care Recycling Program. Styrofoam recycling |
West Grey is now recycling expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam packaging, commonly referred to as Styrofoam, in partnership with Second Wind Recycling. Styrofoam recycling will start on November 1, 2021 and will be based out of the Bentinck and Durham landfills. Drop-off locations:Bentinck landfill, 114079 Grey Road 3 Durham landfill, 590 Park Street Accepted items:Styrofoam with the #6 recycling symbol will be accepted.
