Council Meeting Highlights - August 12, 2025
Council received a delegation from Shawn Edwards regarding the West Grey Terry Fox Run which will be held on September 14, 2025. Mr. Edwards challenged West Grey Council and staff to assemble a team and help raise funds for the Terry Fox Run.
Council received a delegation from the Saugeen Preservation Society regarding options for an RFP to develop aggregate policies in West Grey.
Council received a delegation from Compass Greenfield Development Inc. regarding the Hanover Agrivoltaics Project proposed for the intersection of Grey Road 4 and Grey Road 3. The delegate outlined Ontario’s energy needs, the project’s proposed development timeline, and provided an overall project overview.
Council received correspondence from Grace Lennox respecting a request to erect location signs in the hamlet of Alsfeldt. Council requested that the Mayor consider the installation of hamlet signs as part of the 2026 budget.
Council directed staff to provide a letter of support to the Municipality of Grey Highlands in their application for a grant for upgrades to Stothart Hall in Priceville. If approved, the grant would assist in funding the installation of an Accessibility Ramp and Washroom Extension at Stothart Hall.
In response to a request from CUPE Ontario, Council proclaimed October 21, 2025, as Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day.
Council received correspondence from Sitka Power regarding the Durham Solar Project and from Metlin Energy and Metals regarding the Clearwater Solar Project requesting that a Municipal Support Resolution be provided for their respective projects. Council directed the Mayor to sign the IESO municipal support resolutions on behalf of West Grey.
Council received correspondence from the Grey Bruce OPP Detachment Board respecting an Appeal to The Ministry of the Solicitor General for Review and Reform of Provincial Offences System. Council directed staff to send a letter of support for the resolution to the Ministry of the Attorney General, AMCTO, AMO, ROMA, the West Grey Police Services Board, OAPSB, and the MPP for Bruce Grey Owen Sound.
Council supported the Township of Nairn and Hyman’s resolution opposing the transportation and disposal of niobium tailings at the Agnew Lake Tailings Management Area. Council directed staff to send a letter of support to provincial and federal representatives, relevant ministries, oversight bodies, and municipal associations.
Council directed staff to bring forward a bylaw to amend Bylaw No. 88-2022 to set the maximum speed on Hutton Hill Road at 50 km/h.
Council authorized the Mayor and Clerk to enter into a Connecting Link Agreement with Owen Sound Highway Maintenance Limited for the 2025/26 winter season at a cost of $34,042.20 plus HST. The agreement covers Winter Control Operations on Garafraxa Street (Hwy 6) from the south limit to the north limit of Durham.
Council directed staff to review aggregate policies in West Grey and to bring forward an interim control bylaw for their consideration.

- Ayton Homecoming Fireman Baseball Game on August 24, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Ayton Ball Diamond
- Canadian Plowing Championships on August 25-29, 2025, in Ayton
- Pedal for Saugeen Hospice on August 24, 2025, in Walkerton
- Saugeen Valley Children’s Safety Village Fall Golf Tournament on September 4, 2025, at Highland Glen Golf Club
