Bylaw Enforcement

Bylaw complaints are handled in accordance with West Grey's Bylaw Enforcement Policy. Depending on the nature of the infraction, bylaws may be investigated and enforced by West Grey's contracted Bylaw Enforcement or Animal Control Officers; West Grey Police; or the West Grey Fire Department. Most bylaw complaints are handled by Bylaw Enforcement or Animal Control Officers, however there are exceptions, as noted below.

Noise Complaints
West Grey’s Noise Bylaw is enforced by West Grey Police and complaints regarding excessive noise need to be made to them directly at the time of occurrence. To report a Noise Bylaw violation as it is occurring, please call the West Grey Police non-emergency 24-hour dispatch number at 519-371-6911.

Traffic Control and Parking Complaints
West Grey’s Traffic Control and Parking Bylaw is enforced by West Grey Police. To make a complaint related to this bylaw, please call the West Grey Police directly via their non-emergency 24-hour dispatch number at 519-371-6911. In the case of an emergency, call 9-1-1.

Fire-Related Complaints
West Grey’s Burning Bylaw is enforced by the West Grey Fire Department and burning complaints need to be reported at the time of occurrence. To make a complaint during regular business hours, call the West Grey Fire Department at 519-369-2505; to make a complaint after-hours or on weekends, call 9-1-1. Fires found to be in contravention of the bylaw will be extinguished and charges will be laid as appropriate.
