Council Meeting Highlights - December 2, 2025

Council received a staff report on Waste Fees and Charges and directed staff to prepare a bylaw to amend Bylaw 2025-065 by updating Schedule G. The revised schedule simplifies the layout into one unified fee schedule for both waste sites, and renames the section from “Landfill” to “Waste and Diversion Site.”

Council received a staff report on Blue Box Regulation amendments for non-eligible sources, noting that provincial changes mean businesses will no longer receive non-eligible recycling collection after December 31, 2025, and will instead need to arrange private collection or bring materials to West Grey waste and diversion sites.

Council received Election Report No. 1 for information purposes, outlining preparations for the 2026 municipal election, including the use of internet and telephone voting, and options for Council should they wish to consider ballot questions, contribution rebates, additional language requirements, or a recount policy.

Council directed staff to prepare a revised Official Plan that includes updated lighting requirements for public lands and maintaining existing policies permitting residential dwelling units within commercial buildings in the Downtown Commercial designation. Under this policy, residential units may be located to the rear or above the principal commercial use.

A notice of motion was introduced respecting exchanging 360-litre carts for 240-litre carts upon residents’ request.

• Durham Santa Claus Parade on December 6, 2025, at 12:30 p.m.
• Neustadt Santa Claus Parade on December 7, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
• Denim and Diamonds New Years Eve Dance on December 31, 2025 from 8:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
• Ayton Firefighters New Years Day Breakfast on January 1, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
