Council Meeting Highlights - March 3, 2026
Council received a presentation from Grey County regarding Municipal Road Transfers in West Grey. The purpose of this project is to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Grey County road network by ensuring road ownership aligns with each road’s intended function. Roads currently under County jurisdiction that primarily serve a local purpose are proposed to be transferred to the Municipality, while Municipal roads that serve a broader regional function are proposed to be transferred to the County.
Council directed staff to send letters of support for correspondence received from Bluewater District School Board requesting that:
- A province-wide consultation process be developed and implemented before any decision occurs that would eliminate English public school board trustees.
- The Ontario Ombudsman review the potential impacts of removing English Ontario public school trustees, something that is currently under consideration by the provincial government.
Council received a staff report regarding a noise exemption request for a private event taking place at 173844 Mulock Road on September 12, 2026. Based on information received, Council granted an exemption to the noise bylaw from 11 p.m. until 1 a.m.
Council received a staff report regarding the Statement of 2025 Council and Board Member Remuneration, noting that each Council member was allocated $1,500 for conference registration (excluding meals, mileage, and accommodations), with total remuneration and expenses in 2025 amounting to $221,104.07 for Council and $11,654.79 for local board members.
Council shared information about upcoming community events, including:
- Chicken Dinner hosted by Neustadt Firefighters Association on March 15, 2026, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
