Significant Weather Event Declared – Municipality of West Grey

The Municipality of West Grey has declared a Significant Weather Event (SWE) as of Monday, January 19, 2026, in accordance with Section 16.9 of Ontario Regulation 239/02.

The Significant Weather Event has been declared due to forecasted and/or observed weather conditions. This declaration is intended to notify the public that extra caution should be exercised when travelling on roads and sidewalks maintained by the Municipality of West Grey. Due to freezing rain and icy conditions, it may take longer than usual to restore roadways and sidewalks to a state of repair.

This Significant Weather Event will remain in effect until further notice.

Municipal Facility Closure – Monday, January 19, 2026

Due to inclement weather and the declared Significant Weather Event, the Municipality of West Grey will be closing the following municipal facilities as of 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026:

  • Durham Community Centre

  • Normanby Community Centre

As a result of this closure, any scheduled programming at these facilities will be cancelled for the remainder of the day.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed of current road conditions by visiting roads.grey.ca and to exercise caution if travel is necessary. Where possible, members of the public are advised to remain off the roads during this Significant Weather Event.
