Public comments for Durham Creek Flood Hazard Mapping Project

Aiming to strengthen community resilience and safety, Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA), in collaboration with the Municipality of West Grey and D.M. Wills Associates Limited, has initiated a vital study focused on updating the floodplain mapping in the Durham Creek area. This initiative primarily seeks to enhance our understanding of flood risks and explore potential mitigation strategies.

Floodplain mapping plays a crucial role in guiding decisions related to safeguarding people and properties from natural hazards.

Residents and other interested community members were invited to a Public Information Centre on October 2, 2023. Attendees had the opportunity to examine the study area, learn about the intricacies of floodplain mapping, and engage in discussions. The community’s invaluable feedback through anecdotes, written submissions, photographs, and more, particularly regarding any past flooding experiences in this area, are highly encouraged.
