Council Meeting Highlights - June 2, 2026

Council received a delegation from Tara Davis regarding the Eugene McAdam Presentation to Karl Schipprack, Director of Development, from the Ontario Building Officials Association (Bluewater Chapter). 

Council directed staff to send a letter of support for correspondence received from the Township of Plympton-Wyoming respecting support for sustainable provincial grant funding for fire services in Ontario.

Council received correspondence from the Durham BIA proposed budget. Council approved the 2026 budget for the Durham Business Improvement Area (BIA). The 2026 BIA levy is $12,600.

Council received a staff report regarding a Heritage Permit application for 146 Barbara Street in Neustadt, known as the Diefenbaker House property. Council approved the demolition of the existing barn on the property and approved proposed modifications to the heritage-designated dwelling. The home was originally built in 1890 and was designated under the Ontario Heritage Act by the former Village of Neustadt in 1979. The approved changes will allow updates to the property while recognizing and preserving its heritage significance.

  • Elmwood Firefighters Breakfast June 6, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.
  • Durham Hospital Foundation Slow Pitch Co-Ed Annual Tournament on June 20-21, 2026
  • Durham Lions Club Father’s Day breakfast and Ceaser Sunday on June 21, 2026
  • Durham Herb Fair on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Riverside Park from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
  • Neustadt Markt on June 20, 2026, at the Neustadt Lions Park on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
  • Durham Firefighters Association Golf Tournament Fundraiser at Homestead Golf on July 25, 2026, at 12 p.m.
