Council Meeting Highlights - September 15, 2026
Council received a delegation from Samantha Mund and Malcolm Beddoe, representatives of the West Grey Public Library Board regarding the West Grey Library Strategic Plan 2026-2030.
Council supported a written request from Steve and Deb Smith asking for an updated letter of non-objection to the operation of a Cowboy Mounted Shooting Range located at 161 Stone Hill Road, Durham.
Council supported a resolution from the Municipality of Trent Hills respecting elimination of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board’s Second Injury and Enhancement Fund (SIEF).
Council received a staff report regarding the Durham Landfill Environmental Compliance Amendment. Council directed staff to re-open the Durham Landfill for solid waste depositing. The Durham Landfill has reached approved capacity for waste and daily cover in 2020. During site operations, a portion of the waste mound was inadvertently constructed steeper than the intended and approved final design.
Council received a staff report regarding the Community Garden Policy – Request to Adjust. Council directed staff to amend the draft Community Garden Policy to incorporate the recommended revisions identified in the report; and provided direction regarding the outstanding policy matters related to plot rotation, volunteer expectations, and user fees.
Council received a staff report regarding the Facility Rental Insurance Update. The Municipality requires facility renters to provide $5,000,000.00 in general liability insurance to protect the Municipality while events are being hosted on municipal property. The Municipality’s current facility insurance provider will discontinue its facility and vendor insurance program effective November 30, 2026.
Council received an update on the Mulock Road resurfacing project, which was originally approved using a Low Class Bituminous (LCB) surface treatment. Following a review of the existing road base, traffic volumes, and anticipated traffic from a new subdivision, staff tendered a 50 mm Hot Mix Asphalt/High Class Bituminous (HCB) surface. Walker Construction submitted the lowest bid at $231,580.00, excluding HST, with completion required by October 30, 2026.
Council received a staff report regarding ‘2025 Annual Treasurer’s Statement – Development Charges’ and directed staff to submit the Treasurer's Statement to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and post the statement on the Municipality's website in accordance with Section 43 of the Development Charges Act, 1997, as amended by Bill 60.

- Neustadt Fall Fair on Friday, September 18, 2026, until Saturday, September 19, 2026
- Terry Fox Run on Sunday, September 20, 2026
- International Plowing Match and Rural Expo on September 22, 2026, until September 26, 2026
