Curbside Collection

Curbside Collection

The Municipality of West Grey is committed to providing efficient and sustainable curbside collection services to all residents. Waste Management, the service provider for the Municipality of West Grey, is responsible for regular waste collection across the area. Our recycling collection service, managed by Circular Materials, is designed to help divert waste from landfills and support our commitment to environmental stewardship.

Important notice:
The new curbside collection schedule started October 6, 2025.
Please check the pamphlet that came with your new cart to confirm if your collection day has changed.

Waste and Recycling are picked up on the same day by two different trucks.

Your garbage is collected on the same day as recycling under the new schedule. Continue to use clear garbage bags with a West Grey bag tag on each bag.

If your collection was missed, please use our missed collection form to report the issue so it can be resolved quickly. Collection crews have until the end of the day to complete routes recycling and waste may not be collected at the same time. All garbage must be placed in clear bags.

The Ontario government’s Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act (Blue Box Regulation) makes producers of recyclable materials responsible for funding and managing recycling.

This producer responsibility approach encourages waste reduction and more efficient recycling systems.

Beginning in 2026, Ontario’s program will expand to include:

  • A province-wide list of accepted materials

  • Free recycling collection for schools, long-term care homes, and multi-residential buildings

Who manages recycling now?
Waste Management is contracted by Circular Materials, a nonprofit organization managing recycling collection on behalf of producers.

Property owners and residents should contact Waste Management directly for all matters related to their recycling carts, schedules, missed pickups, and cart repairs.

Bag Tags

We recommend that residents purchase the appropriate number of bag tags they need, as upcoming changes will affect curbside collection.

The Municipality of West Grey has implemented a bag tag payment program to promote recycling and highlight the value of protecting our environment. A bag tag is required for each bag placed at the curb for collection.

Please note that each clear bag or container must not exceed the 40lb (18kg) weight limit.

Bag tags are available for purchase at the following retail locations ($3.50). Please be advised that bag tags are nonrefundable.
