Park Street West Reconstruction Project

Project Overview

The Park Street West Reconstruction project involved significant infrastructure upgrades from Garafraxa Street to the west end of Park Street West. The work included full reconstruction of underground services and an update to the road profile to meet modern urban standards.

Scope of Work

  • Removal and replacement of the deteriorated bridge deck
  • Preservation and continued use of the existing steel substructure
  • Design and construction in accordance with Ministry of Transportation bridge design standards, including minimum axle load requirements

The project is being delivered through a Design/Build tender process authorized by Council.

  • Replacement of watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer infrastructure
  • Road reconstruction to an urban cross-section, including curb and gutter
  • Provision for future sidewalks to support active transportation and pedestrian safety

  • Minor site clean-up and any remaining deficiencies will be addressed in the coming weeks
  • Landscaping and final surface restoration to be completed as weather permits

Benefits of the Project

The project restores a key transportation link for residents, emergency services, and winter maintenance operations, improves safety by replacing a deteriorated bridge deck, provides a cost-effective use of the existing steel structure, ensures compliance with provincial bridge standards, and supports long-term infrastructure reliability in Normanby Township.
