Drinking water annual reports

The Municipality of West Grey conducts annual reports on Durham and Neustadt drinking water. The reports document findings of the inspection and have two sections: “actions required” and “recommended actions” as per section 19 of the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002.

  • 2019 Durham drinking water system annual report
  • 2019 Neustadt drinking water system annual report
  • 2020 Durham drinking water system annual report
  • 2020 Neustadt drinking water system annual report
  • 2021 Durham drinking water system annual report
  • 2021 Neustadt drinking water system annual report

Further, the West Grey water systems operate under the Quality Management Policy.

The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks releases annual reports on drinking water. The ministry's annual reports provide an overview of their programs, policies and initiatives to protect drinking water in Ontario.

  • Minister's annual report on drinking water (2020)
  • Minister’s annual report on drinking water (2021)

Do not flush wipes

Only flush toilet paper. Wipes, paper towels and other products can clog pipes and be very hard on sewer systems.

Water hydrant flushing

The flushing of hydrants in Durham and Neustadt occurs periodically from May through to September 30 every year. Please check the water colour prior to doing your laundry.  Some residents may experience low water pressure and discolouration.

Winter weather notice

Residents in Durham and Neustadt using the water system should note that in colder winter temperatures, it is important to make sure water lines are protected from the cold.

Tips include:

  • Ensure that the area around the water meter is heated and protected from freezing. (Any damage to private water lines and/or meter is at the homeowner's expense)
  • If you are not a permanent resident ensure home is kept above freezing and that someone is checking the heat regularly.
  • Leave any natural snow cover on or around the water lines under the ground, and near the outside wall where the lines run into the home, as this will insulate the ground from the cold.
