West Grey Programs

The Municipality of West Grey offers a range of programs to support waste reduction, environmental sustainability, and convenient disposal options for residents.

Residents can purchase backyard composters, rain barrels, and diverters to help manage organic waste and conserve water at home. These items are available at the Municipal Office, with rain barrel pickup also offered at the Durham Landfill during regular hours, while quantities last.

Seasonal services include a one-day fall leaf and yard waste collection held each November in Ayton, Durham, Neustadt, and Elmwood (West Grey side). This program provides residents with a convenient way to dispose of leaves and yard materials, which are collected roadside and composted at municipal diversion sites.

West Grey also supports proper disposal of household cooking waste through its FOG (fats, oils, and grease) program. Residents can pick up free FOG cups from the Municipal Office to safely collect and dispose of cooking grease, helping prevent plumbing issues and protect municipal infrastructure.

These programs are designed to make it easier for residents to reduce waste, protect the environment, and maintain efficient municipal services.
